Ending Alzheimer's Disease

As we have eagerly greeted summer this month and completed some of our busiest last few months, we wanted to send you a note and recent updates.  As always, we are busy even when we are not in touch, so please visit our website and twitter account regularly (and follow us on Twitter). We recently also added a new LinkedIn account for our company in order to reach more friends and colleagues.

June is recognized as Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month.  For the last four decades, June has been observed as Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month, raising global public awareness of Alzheimer's and other brain diseases. This month of advocacy and education highlights the burden and impact of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological diseases on the lives of patients, family members, care givers and our communities. This month also once again highlights the importance of early diagnosis and finding safe and effective therapies.  Like all researchers around the world, we work continuously and diligently focused on a therapy for Alzheimer’s disease. And for us, safety and efficacy go hand in hand.  As a recently diagnosed Alzheimer’s disease patient told me earlier this month; “I do not want to be treated with a therapy that will leave my brain in a worse shape than before.”  Speaking with patients and their family members always remind us that we have an obligation to the patients in doing all we can to make sure the patients will receive the best therapies that are safe while they are disease modifying.  Now more than ever, we need to work together to bring an end to Alzheimer's disease and other neurological diseases.

In the last few months we have attended many meetings and conferences and have met many new colleagues and potential partners.  Stay tuned for some of this upcoming news.  SMDG was also recently recognized as one of the innovative companies in the North East UK and was invited to the VentureFest Innovation Showcase in Newcastle. This is an annual event organized by the Innovation SuperNetwork North East England to showcase the innovative companies.
